The Location

Mas de Palassas lies between the three iconic hilltop villages of Lacoste, Menerbes and Bonnieux in one of the most sought after locations in Provence.

Lacoste was made famous by the Marquis de Sade, a former resident of the chateau. It has a commanding view of the valley below and is now owned by Pierre Cardin, the fashion designer. The village, which is surrounded by fields of Lavender and cherry trees as well as vineyards oozes Provencal charm has a market once per week, a post office, a couple of restuarants and a village shop. There is a long line of writers and artists besotted by the areas charms, from Matisee and VanGogh to more recently, Peter Mayle who moved to and fell in love with a 200 year old farmhouse in Lacoste and wrote his best selling memoir, ”„A Year In Provence' about the renovation of it.
From the Mas there are fabulous uninterrupted views of the Petit Luberonhills part of the Luberon National park.

We are conveniently located between Avignon and Marseille with daily flights from the Uk and frequent TGV trains running to Paris and London.

It is an excellent base to explore the numerous Provencal historical towns, hilltop villages, markets and vineyards as you are conveniently close to everything.

The Property

Mas de Palassas is a stone built Provencal farmhouse that in its previous life was a silk farm. The setting is tranquil and private. The Mas is set in 2 + acres of newly landscaped Provencal style gardens. There are large lawns to play on and lots of space for children to enjoy some exploration in a safe environment.

There is a gated and alarmed 12 x 6 m salt water swimming pool which can be heated, if necessary. The pool has Roman steps at one end, perfect for the smaller members of any party to gain confidence in the water. The pool terrace is well equipped with loungers for basking in the sunshine or dozing in the shade under the Oak trees. There is also a large outdoor sofa, perfect for relaxing by the pool.

The Summer kitchen enables you to dine alfresco by the pool side. It is equipped with: two fridges to keep your drinks perfectly chilled, a Provencal style stone sink and plenty of worktop space for food preparation. A stone table and benches, typical of the area, enables you to sit and chat with the cook whilst they prepare the meal in the kitchen or at the barbeque.

Beyond the kitchen is a TP toys Sherwood climbing frame & tower with triple swing arm which has something for every child when sun bathing and playing in the pool gets too much. We also have a 14ft trampoline, a Wendy house and a large sandpit on site.

As the sun sets after another glorious day in the Provencal sunshine, bathe in the magical light and listen to the evocative chorus of Cicadas, indulge in an aperitif whilst enjoying a game of Petanque on our large Petanque court.

The house is light, airy and stylishly furnished. An ancient fireplace and exposed beams sit alongside a wealth of new appliances. The house has been thoughtfully equipped to accommodate large family parties. There is satellite TV with English channels, a children”¦s dvd library and internet access. There are seven bedrooms,a sitting room, a TV room, a dining room, a study, a utility room and a kitchen. Please see the floor plan for layout.

Around the house & garden we have various places for al fresco drinking & dining to take advantage of the almost relentless blue skies. The terrace by the kitchen, shaded by a Jasmine covered pergola is perfect for morning coffee and a fresh hot croissant. Under th pergoia by the pool is an ideal place to eat lunch in the shade.
